Addis Ababa, October 29, 2012 (FBC) – The National Electoral Board of Ethiopia has announced that 1 million 394,922 voters have registered for Sidama’s referendum so far.

Board officials and Coordination Office members attended polling stations in different wards and saw the registration process today.

The Board, which announced the registration of 1,9692,922 voters to 1,692 voter registration cases, said there was a minor disturbance in the vicinity of the town of Hawassa, East Sub-City.

The bodies of the people who were approaching the polling station at night were arrested and the Hawassa City Police announced that it was a robbery attempt.

The areas with the highest enrollment – Arbego, Hula, Washoe and Bonna, as well as low-income areas – are said to be Hawassa City, Alta Wodo and Background.
